New Orleans Wedding: Bourbon Street 'Second Line' Parade


Louisiana Creoles, considered to be descendants of the original French settlers, are a people of mixed French, African, Spanish, Native American and other ancestry. There is a custom unique to their tradition known as 'second line', a wedding parade New Orleans jazz style. This video shows the tradition marching down French Quarter.

Yemeni Wedding with Sword Dance


Although Yemeni wedding traditions vary in the cities, mountains and on the sea, in each the common ululating, sword dancing and celebrating for three days bring joy to the union of individuals, families and tribes. Yemeni women's wedding celebrations take place in the "mafraj", a spacious room with large rectangular windows on all sides. As in other Arab cultures, the bride sits on a throne-like chair for everyone to admire. The women drape basil leaves and flowers over their ears and wear all the gold jewelry they own. more

Yemen Wedding Song


The Traditional Yemenite Bride is know for her detailed attire with veiled headdress and elaborate jewelry. Her hands have been decorated with henna. Photos are the only time they are seen together during the day of their wedding celebration. While hidden earlier for several hours inside a white limousine, the bride leads a caravan of cars honking horns through the streets of the town to announce the start of the wedding. The Sephardic Jewish community of Rhodes now living in Seattle, Los Angeles and Portland has a similar tradition.

Wedding- Dancing Processional in Ghana







The bride and groom march in with family members. The bride's mother or the eldest woman, representing the family, is asked if she received a sufficient bride price for losing her daughter. Libations are passed to the man, and to the woman, a glass of pure water first, followed by honey in water, and finally watered gin. The nuptial rite ends with drumming. The newlyweds begin to dance, followed by family, and finally everyone.
